Finding Your Voice

Frequently Asked Questions

I can’t sing.  I’ve been told I’m tone deaf.  Can I really learn to sing?

YES! Hundreds of people who have been told that they were not singers—and believed they could not sing—have taken the FYV workshop and learned to sing! There is no such thing as permanent ‘tone deafness’! This condition is merely a response to an environment that can be eliminated through awareness and simple re-training.  FYV technologies guide the student through their learned behaviors and teaches new beliefs and skills that allow students to not only find their voice—but enjoy it!

The Finding Your Voice belief is:  If you can talk, you can sing!

I will take the workshop, but do I have to sing in the graduation concert?

Here’s the deal.  Not one student in the history of Finding Your Voice has ever opted out of performing in the graduation concert.  (And that’s A LOT of students…approximately 1,300!)  You must remember that, who you are now is not who you will be by the time you get to your concert date.  Have faith…you’ll be chomping at the bit to get up on that stage come concert time!

My level of proficiency as a singer won’t match everyone else’s in the class.  Should I still take the workshop?

Finding Your Voice graduates are comprised of every type of singer on the performance continuum including people who have never sung before to people who are union and perform as a career.  Finding Your Voice can be applied to any genre of singer or singing style. While it is a group process, each student will, in essence, be taking their own workshop and have their own unique process tailored specifically to their needs.

Can I make payments?

FYV will never turn anyone away regarding money!  Payments can be made by e-mailing Roby directly and communicating your payment arrangements.  We just ask that the course is paid in full by the final workshop meeting.

Can I have my child take the course with me?

Due to the mature subject matter of the sharing that often takes place in the workshop, children are not allowed to take the adult FYV course.  On occasion an older teenager maybe granted enrollment. I highly recommend allowing your child to have their FYV experience via the FYV 4 Kids! Workshop.

Can I come to the first class before I decide to join?

Unfortunately, students are not accepted on a ‘drop in’ basis as the class space is highly confidential and therefore, trust and commitment are a necessary aspect of the workshop.  Also space is very limited and it is important spaces are available for students committed to finishing the course.

If you are not certain about enrolling, there are several things you can do to support your decision making process:

1) Call FYV to speak to an instructor and get your questions answered personally,

2) Attend a FYV concert performance and speak to graduates personally, or

3) Show up at a Sunday service at The Celebration Center (www.TheCelebrationCenter.org ) as there are any number of graduates who regularly attend Sunday services that you can speak with directly to get their opinions of the FYV experience.
